Central bank sees 13% rise of phone fraud in May
MOSCOW, May 26 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank has initiated blocking of 25,000 phone numbers of fraudsters since the beginning of May, up 13% than in April, Vadim Uvarov, head of the regulator’s information security department, said on Thursday.
“In May we have witnessed an increase in activities of phone fraud. According to preliminary information, since the beginning of the month we have initiated blocking of more than 25,000 numbers – by 13% more than in April and three times more than in March,” Uvarov said.
He added that fraudsters make calls mainly from municipal numbers.
